About the BIAV

The Baking Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV) is a peak employer organisation, offering representation to manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, the hospitality and catering industries, and a wide range of allied traders.

We provide our members with advice and support to help them to operate successful businesses. As an industry leader, we work with business, government and training organisations, to advance the standards and quality of the sector, and to promote Australia’s baking industry here and overseas.

The BIAV is administered by a board and executive team, operating on the principles of:

  • Excellent service to our members
  • Informed action and advocacy
  • Good governance

Taking a Fresh Approach

In 2009, the BIAV is navigating an exciting new course for the organisation and its members. We are offering a range of services which have been developed to directly meet the needs of the baking industry. Some services are free or subsidised; others are available on a fee-for-service basis, through our industry partners program.

The BIAV business hub provides a valuable one-stop-shop for helping to improve the long term viability of your business, whilst also assisting with your everyday business requirements. We offer a full calendar of industry events, including updated training and development modules, with a focus on new technologies. Our ever-popular awards program will provide members with many opportunities to strut their stuff on local and global stages and there is also a variety of social weekends and evenings being planned, to entice our hard working members to take some well deserved time out.

Giving Voice to the Challenges

The BIAV is voicing opinion and taking action on a variety of issues impacting on the industry, such as developments in industrial relations, the recent devastating bushfres, and the pending carbon pollution reduction scheme (CPRS). Our aim is to ensure our members are kept informed and up-to-date and, wherever possible, infuence positive outcomes for individuals and the industry as a whole. For example, we are developing strategic approaches to sustainability under an industry-wide framework, and encouraging responsible best practice, while seeking to assure the ongoing economic viability of baking businesses.

First and foremost, as the industry continues to grow and evolve, the BIAV is committed to matching relevant, quality services and support to the needs of its valued members. The BIAV is an organisation for all baking business – large or small and everyone is welcome.
